Sarrouy, Alix Didier, José Alberto Vasconcelos Simões, and Ricardo Campos, eds. 2022. A Arte de Construir a Cidadania. Lisboa: Tinta da China.
This collective work stems from a project on youth and their civic and political participation, which take place outside the institutional policy. «Arts of citizenship» is a concept that encompasses this fluid and expanded participation horizon.
Dance, music, visual arts, video, photography, performance, and digital activism, among many others, are forms of expression creatively used by young people in their intervention in favour of multiple causes and social struggles. To account for this diversity, the book addresses four means of building citizenship: body, sound, image and technology. It collects contributions from social scientists and artists from various countries, exploring new dialogues and synergies between disciplinary areas.
